Grand Prix Posters

grand prix and formula 1 posters logo

This is a website we designed & built selling reproduction and original grand prix posters to a worldwide audience.
It works well in Google searches because it sells basically a single niche product.

The Website - Design & Template Used

grandprix posters website
This is the lastest revamp of this website using the specific ready made website template of selling posters or art. We didn't change the default installed template much, just basically changed the header at the top of the website.

What makes this special for selling art work is the method of attaching a price list to each thumbnail position.
First is for a paper poster, second for framed, third (shown) is for the ready-made canvas and the last for a canvas rolled in tube - a different price list with sizes  and stock available is shown depending on the thumbnail chosen.

So for essentially one product there are many variants - 17 sizes across 4 types for this Monaco 1968 poster - with simpler generic shopping carts available you'd have to enter them as 17 individual products. The main image has as the individually selectable zoom tool turned on.

The website template also includes the global shipping module with delivery options.

This website is also connected to The Whole Picture Company who make and ship all the posters - they get a copy of the order, which is automatically triggered from the online payment module.

The Search Engine Results

It does help with search results that the main search term is part of the domain name and generally searching for a domain name to get a number one search result is cheating - you will always come number one when searching for your domain - there's something badly wrong if it doesn't!

This website has been in existence for a number of years which helps with search results which the search engines like - it establishes an element of trust. Brand new websites using a new domain name can take a while to produce worthwhile search results as the search engines establish that trust and your websites relevance to peoples search terms.

Notice how Google has highlighted the search terms in bold in the result titles, descriptions and the URL link to the website page. The content management system we are using has an identical copy that you can edit to get your main keywords into the correct place. Calling your website home page "Home Page" or "Welcome" is worthless.

The CMS also has an tool to produce the XML feed to Google's Merchant Center using the latest feed specification. By submitting your products to Google you will appear in the Shopping Results and if you're lucky or good, get a listing as shown to the right - Google's used Grand Prix Posters as the top shopping result.

If the search term is popular enough there can be a third result for Google images - "british grand prix poster" doesn't appear to make the grade.

Google returns result based on what it thinks is the most relevant for the search term, so we've beaten the massive allposters and ebay - the small website can beat the giants if you understand how to optimise for searches.
